Work between Scheemda and Winschoten

On behalf of ProRail, contractor Swietelsky has started preparations for large-scale work on the railway between Scheemda and Winschoten. From 10 August to 23 August, the contractor will be working continuously. We are renewing the track and adapting the infrastructure to enable the higher speeds required for the Wunderline.

No trains, but buses
During this work, there will be no trains running between Bad Nieuweschans and Zuidbroek. Instead, buses will be used in both directions.

Closures and diversions
The level crossing at Garst, the underpass at Simon van Wattumpad, better known as the tunnel next to Winschoten station, and Blijhamsterweg will be closed to all traffic. Diversion routes have been set up and are indicated by yellow signs. In addition, the Stationsoverpad in Scheemda and the Stationsoverpad in Winschoten will also be closed.

Work
Among other things, tracks, switches, track ballast and train safety systems are being renewed. Cable and pipe work is also being carried out. In addition, platform work is planned at Winschoten station.
