Wunderline municipalities make regional connection visible

During the meeting of the chain mobility network on 5 June in Groningen's city hall, the participating municipalities explored the possibilities for a striking object at or near their stations. This object should make the municipality visible to travellers and emphasise the connectedness of the northern border region. The ideas are currently being worked out in more detail, ultimately resulting in one widely supported concept.

The activation of train traffic over the Wunderline route is getting closer and closer, and with it, the desire to clearly present both the Wunderline and the participating municipalities. This fits perfectly with the ambition to strengthen the Wunderline region, from Bremen to Groningen, and put it on the (inter)national map.

Prior to the meeting, Sarah Boshuizen from the Municipality of Groningen presented some great developments in mobility during a city walk, including initiatives to make the city centre car-free. She also showed locations where large-scale bicycle parking facilities are to be built and outlined plans to make certain streets attractive and connect them to central places in the city.

The partners of the Wunderline Chain Mobility Network have now been working together for six years to improve chain mobility, increase comfort around and at stations and enhance the visibility of the municipalities in the Wunderline rail link area.
